I arrived yesterday on Delta at 12:45, 4 minutes early. I was about the third in line at customs.
Just a little Delta update: I mentioned in another thread that Delta was going cashless as of 12/1 on most flights. My flight did not have the VOD screens, and the flight attendants thought those w/o would remain as is. SO when you get on a plane, you won't know. They had handhelds and were updating their inventory like a supermarket. Anyway, they were giving away pretzels, peanuts, and cookies in coach and full meals in First Class. Flights were full.
I checked two large bags, and the first came off quickly, but it was quite a wait on the second, and I began to worry, as I was almost the only one still there.
Nobody tagged my bags at the lounge or asked for a tip, though I was going to RP. I talked to John and Linda at SMB, and they did not have to tip but did get theirbags tagged.
David Campbell came to pick me up, and we had a grand time visiting on the way up, as usual when I see him.
We stopped at SMB so I could say hi to John and Linda. It was raining, so I did not take any pics. The main pool is lovely and more widely used now, as depicted in Kathy's pics. What else is new is that they ripped out the whole hut area where OK Corral used to be, and now there is just soft, white sand there.
I had a lovely chat with Joe Zeller. It was just thrilling to see him again. He looked young, energetic and fabulous. I always think Jamaica agrees with him. His wife has not arrived back as yet but is coming soon. One of her parents is ill.
Joe says they have put a lot more internet boosters around and things are improved. I told him if it wasn' t raining I would take my Blackberry to every building again.
At lunch there, they were having an Indian buffet - grilling tandoori chicken and curried shrimp, and they had mutton and some other dishes. Outside, they had jerk pork and chicken and the usual grill items.
Anyway, by the time David and I made it up here, it was around 4:30 or so. The place is very full and a lot going on. Weather is fine at this end.
I am in room 351, a deluxe, and you can see 3 tables from here at the main restaurant, only from the sitting area.
The big thing I don't like about this is there is a large palm here, and the tree frogs were loud last night. I may be the only one in the world that hates tree frogsm, but I had to sleep with a pillow over my hear.
Marcia checked me in, and there is now a cc swiping machine at the concierge desk.

I have had a wonderful time here with Marcia, Annasette, Shawn, Peter, Yannis, and Suzanne. They are all happy and healthy and looking wonderful.
Peter and I had some chat about details for our group arrivals and then it was on to get ready for dinner.
I had dinner on the terrace at the Jamaican Night, but Le Papillon was open. Shawn and I had the sea bass from there, and I had a grilled lobster tail from the buffet. We both had the papaya dressing, which I had not heard of here before. It was good. I don't knpw why the sea bass did not have the crispy skin or any skin anymore, but it was delicious as usual. Shawn said no crispy skin for at least a couple of weeks! We had mixed berries for dessert.
Patrick Reid was here last night, and it was great to see him as always. He does a nice cabaret style here, but I am going to miss the more bold style of his late night reggaes at Boscobel. He seemingly is no longer there at all thanks to Howard Spittle. The killer to the evening was when Shawn and I were waiting inside the terrace for Yannis to come opit and Shawn ran over my toe with the chair and himself sitting in it. I can't tel u the the pain at the time, and it is a purple mess now.

They will go through the butler's guild training by February. One of them, Jason has already been through it. Once they do that, they will be called butlers. The service will be similar to what the butlers offer at Sandals, including the packing and unpacking.

I had a great day yesterday. Lots of meetings until dinner but I did go to the beauty salon in the a.m. for a pedi on the rocks. I thought I would have to cancel with this toe but because Ernestine is so experienced and wonderful, she managed to do everything, hot stones, clay mask, scrub, massage, even the thing they are doing like the paraffin par that is now something or other else. She even did a sterilizing treatment to the blood blister. It came back, but some of the pressure is off since she was able to cut some of the nail.
It was a bit chaotic in there due to a very nervous bride. Anyway, I just ended up helping her and getting into her day. They had a blessed ceremony, and we did get pics of the beautiful flower setup that Vivian did. Trudane did a wonderful job with her arrangements, and the weather cooperated for them.
For breakfast, I had the buffet, scrambled eggs, dry toast and watermelon, along with grapefruit juice. Shawn had yogurt and an omelette.
At lunch, I had them prepare me a "side dish" of clams, and it was a heaping plate of delicious clams. I already have in an order for today. I also had the seafood rundown which was an enormous lobster tail and scallops. I could not begin to eat it all. I did order it with no sauce and got sauce anyway.
They had the martini moments last night. I did not have any, but one of the guys I am hanging that is the Sandals rep from Arizona had something that looked and tasted like an Ande's mint (the green ones). He loved it and had another later.
I had dinner with him and his friend and Shawn, and steak and chicken was had at our table, and then first Shawn and I had salads. His had big crab claws in it. One of the others had that, too with a tangy vinaigrette and then they had minestrone. Shawn and I did not.
They all had a number of chocolate desserts and ice cream. I had creme brulee heaped with fresh blueberries.
After dinner, we chatted till late. Then I went with some people to H2O across the street for Karoake. Not like what you are used to. This was local artists and stuff taking turns and very tame crowd just listening and light dancing. Lots of people I knew there. Fun by all, and we left after 2:30 and it was still going on.
RP is now doing a thing at Le Papillon called mashup the last Sat of the month. Shawn and I recorded a little video about it yesterday. I will see how big it is and if I can stand waiting for it to upload while I am down here.
I have current menus now, but they are changing again in a week.

So sorry about your toe incident and hope it gets better soon. Guess you'll have to stay in sandals for a while.

Ouch on the toe! We heard a lot of tree frogs on our stay there - they kept me up late too.
I'm glad you got to get your pedicure anyway...

I am glad the pedicure session helped your tortured foot! Sounds like you are getting plenty of seafood.
