I'm writing this
Email in regards to our Super Clubs Vacation that we took in Jamaica at
Runaway Bay. We vacationed there for 2 weeks 7/05/02 - 7/19/02 with the
family. Myself (Kevin 48), and my wife Sheila 47 actually went up a week
earlier than the kids Jaclynn 19, and Adam 16.
We went into our vacation very skeptical because of Emails and comments that
we had read on various sites and web pages. We had read some pretty harsh
things and were very nervous, but we have decided that those people just had
really bad luck or are overly critical. Our family had a wonderful
experience through Breezes Runaway Bay and we can't wait to go back. I'll
try to explain exactly what we did on our vacation.
When first arriving in Jamaica it's very easy to find the Super Clubs stand
and from there they put you on a small bus that transports you to the
resort. The ride wasn't as bad as everyone says, at times it can be a little
scary, and rough, but looking at the conditions you are driving on and
through it's not that bad. You stop once for like 10 min. to go to the
bathroom, get a drink, etc. The ride on the whole averages 1 1/2 hours
(depending on the driver).
When you get to the resort check in is easy, and they will show you to your
room and your bags are brought to you shortly. Then you are basically in
paradise. The first week when me and my wife were alone we layed on the
beach a lot. The weather is beautiful - not to hot, low 90's, with a breeze,
and the sun is always shinning, with the exception of one day it rained for
an hour. But I will CAUTION you on the beach in the late afternoon, it gets
very windy and the sand can blow, so I suggest bringing a cup with a lid.
That week we also went snorkeling, which was beautiful - lots of fish,
coral, and just beautiful water. We went on a bottom glass boat ride which
was worth it you could see amazing fish, an old boat wreck, and even an old
plane wreck. We also went on a paddle boat ride but I wouldn't suggest it
was too windy to get anywhere. I suggest trying all the activities that
interest you because they are worth it.
The drinks are great. They make anything you want made to order. The cups
are small but they have no problem using your own bigger cup. The drinks
really hit the spot. I suggest the pina colada, or a drink called the miami
vice.
The food was really good as well, but they could have had more of a
selection. We mainly just got the jerk chicken, pastas, fajitas, cold salads
and cold pastas, and the deserts were so good with like 15 different
options. We ate at all the restaurants Starlite Grill is a more outside
quiet intimate setting, Martinos is the italian restaurant you have to make
reservation to and they will bring your food in courses, and the food is
just fabulous, the setting is more formal too. And then there is the main
restaurant where you will have the most variety, and a band plays and its
more socialable. The first week me and my wife ate at the Starlite Grill the
most and the second week we ate at the main restaurant with the kids.
Me and my wife tried the hot tubs at night and did a lot of walking the
beach, the stars are great. We also watched the shows which were always
entertaining.
The kids arrived the 2nd week and they too had an awesome time. I was
worried about them meeting people to hang out with but the group of people
there that week were so friendly and they made a close knit group of people
ranging from 16- 34. ( I'll let my daughter tell you about the rest)
Me and my brother had a really good time. We got really involved in the
circus clinics. To any of ya'll that are interested in it, I suggest you try
it once, it is very safe and fun. There is a circus show Thurs. night and my
brother did the trapeze in the show and I did the Spanish Web. I must say
too that the circus team is very well trained and take time to work with
you. I had actually worked with Vladimir (the head circus guy) before and
he's great.
We also did the activities/ games they did during the day like best legs and
assests contest, and toga demo, trivia, I think the more you do the more
people you meet, and they more fun you have. But you will have just as much
fun if you just watch too. We snorkeled, swam in the pool, did the paddle
boats, worked out, and just relaxed a lot.
The night life is always fun! We went to the Hurricane Disco at night and
danced till the wee hours in the morning. And it wasn't just young people if
yall are worried. It was all ages, singles, couples, and everyone was able
to mix and mingle together.
The best nights I think were toga night, the PJ party night, and the beach
party night. The toga night was fun and a lot more people participated then
Ithought. They give you the togas and you design them the wqy you want and
then everyone meets in the disco for dancing and contests.
The PJ party is also a lot of fun, outfits vary. A lot of people just were
boxers, or PJ pants with a Tshirt but others get a little wilder. The beach
party just consists of little games that are alot of fun that you play on
the beach at night.
The staff was excellent. Always attending your needs and wants. They work
hard and are friendly. The entertainment staff gets 2 thumbs up. Always on
the go trying to get you involved. I personally liked Gizzy, you stands out
in my mind the most you was a great entertainer, and Winston was always a
lot of fun too.
Basically we had an excellent trip. Food, drinks, activities, weather,
staff, parties, the people, and the resort on the whole was great. We can't
wait till next year. You can make the most of your trip. And don't worry
about the negative remarks, I think everyones trip will vary from person to
person. I hope any of ya'll who are traveling to Breezes Runaway Bay in the
near future have a great trip.
The best to you and yours. Ya Mon, No Problem!
